I just stumbled on my blogger account after 4 years, I am no longer a teen as suggested by my username. I just went on scrolling on things I have written before and I felt kind of proud of what I have written before, so I thought why not start it again because mostly it will be me who will be reading it.
As I am trying to find a topic to write about while sitting in my hostel, (yes I am pursuing MBA from IIM Kozhkode, and my 18 year old self would have been so proud and happy) I stumbled on the thought: what makes a story worth remembering? The kind of stories you remember even after years, an episode of some favourite series or cartoon you remember vividly and you just get excited to narrate it again, or a childhood memory from summer vacation or something that happened in your school or college or workplace or a trip! Just pause here for a second and think about the story which is on the top of your head after reading this sentence.
And it's alright if you can’t think of anything right now. Sometimes our brains get too foggy because we are too busy just surviving that it just pushes back all these stories. But there must be something you could think of. Next time instead of doomscrolling allow your brain to get bored, think through things (not overthinking guys!) Think about what was good in your day, a cup of coffee also counts, try to relieve the present moment. Just feel the air passing through your nostrils, or the air brushing your arms and all the sounds you could hear around you.. You exist in this beautiful world and it is not by any chance. You deserve to be here and see all the beautiful springs, sunny summers and cozy winters.
So, let’s get back again to the point, what makes a story worth remembering? All I could think of is that the moments you were fully present makes it worth remembering. I could never forget when I went water rafting for the first time, because I was fully in the moment and I was feeling alive because the flow of the river was threatening me that it could take it away from me in a split second! So guys the key is stay present, not the easiest thing always but keep trying :)
Do you remember when Hazel Grace in the book ‘The fault in our stars' said to Issac that ‘Pain demands to be felt' when he was moaning over his ex Monica who dumped him because he was gonna blind after few days. It sounds ridiculous telling a person in the pain that pain demands to be felt. But now wait a minute and just wonder what if no pain existed in this world. Neither physical nor emotional. Wouldn’t be our lives more easier? It would become more easier to get over your ex or sleep peacefully when you have a fracture in your arm. Sounds amazing. Right? Now just imagine you are walking bare footed on a beautiful morning and you get a thorn in your feet accidentally, but as you don’t feel pain you don’t bother about it but that thorn dive deeper in your nerves and you are dead another day. We feel pain not because it is meant to be like this. We feel pain so that we can do something about that, we can dive deeper towards the reason why we are feeling that pain and how we c...
